TiviMate Xtream Codes Not Working — Fix Login Errors (2026)
M3U works but Xtream fails in TiviMate? Fix server URL format, invisible spaces, ISP/DNS blocks, 401 errors, and empty channel lists with this checklist.
A common TiviMate complaint: M3U playlists load fine, but Xtream Codes login fails — or the playlist shows as “active” with zero channels. This checklist covers the fixes that solve most cases on Fire Stick, Android TV, and Nvidia Shield.
1. Use real Xtream fields — not the get.php URL
In TiviMate, choose Add playlist → Xtream Codes API. Enter three separate fields:
- Server: http://yourhost.example:8080 (include http:// or https:// and the port)
- Username: exactly as provided
- Password: exactly as provided
Do not paste a full M3U link such as http://host:8080/get.php?username=…&password=…&type=m3u into the Server field. That is an M3U URL, not an Xtream server address. Mixing the two is the #1 cause of “Xtream error while M3U works.”
2. Remove invisible spaces
Copy each value into a notes app first. Delete any leading or trailing spaces, then paste into TiviMate. Extra spaces break Xtream login while a carefully copied M3U link can still succeed.
3. Test the API in a browser
On a phone or laptop on the same network, open:
http://YOURHOST:PORT/player_api.php?username=USER&password=PASS
- You see JSON or account data → credentials and server are fine; focus on TiviMate format or network path to the stick
- Timeout, blank page, or block page → ISP, DNS, or router security may be blocking the Xtream host
4. Rule out ISP / DNS blocking
If M3U works through a middleman tool but direct Xtream fails at home:
- Retry on mobile hotspot
- Try a short VPN test (then turn it off if not needed)
- Change Fire Stick / router DNS to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 (or 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4)
- Temporarily disable ISP “security” / Active Armor–style filters that block streaming hosts
5. Playlist shows “active” but no TV channels
That usually means TiviMate accepted a get.php-style URL as a playlist entry without treating it as a proper Xtream subscription. Delete that playlist. Re-add with true Xtream Codes fields (step 1), or use a clean M3U playlist URL — do not mix formats.
6. Error 401 when opening a channel
- Confirm username and password again (no spaces)
- Close the same account on other devices — connection limits often return 401
- Ask your provider to re-enable or refresh the line if activation is pending
- Try an external player (VLC) once; if only the built-in player fails, update or reinstall TiviMate
7. Still stuck?
Note the exact error text, whether you use HTTP or HTTPS, and whether player_api.php works with and without a VPN. That combination usually pinpoints the cause in one support reply.
